What is Acetic Water?

Acetic acid water (0.6% acetic acid in sterile water) is a mildly acidic solvent used for reconstituting peptides that are not soluble in — or are unstable in — neutral-pH bacteriostatic water. The most common example is TB-500, which some suppliers and research protocols recommend reconstituting in acetic water for optimal stability.

When to Use Acetic Water Instead of Bacteriostatic Water

Most peptides on this site are best reconstituted in bacteriostatic water. Acetic water is specifically for peptides that:

• Show poor solubility in neutral solvents
• Contain sulfur-containing residues that oxidise readily at neutral pH
• Are supplied by manufacturers who specify acetic reconstitution

• Storage: Room temperature or refrigerated. Once punctured, use within 28 days for research purposes.

How to Use

Reconstitution procedure is identical to bacteriostatic water — swab both vial septa with alcohol, draw the required volume into a sterile syringe, inject slowly down the side wall of the peptide vial, and swirl gently to dissolve. See How to Reconstitute Research Peptides for full guidance.
