Buy Bacteriostatic Water in the UK
Revial Labs stocks bacteriostatic water (often shortened to “bac water”) in the UK in 3ml and 10ml multi-dose vials, from £3.99. It ships from UK stock by Royal Mail Tracked, usually the same working day, and is the solvent we recommend for every lyophilised peptide we sell. If you are placing a peptide order, add a vial here or pick up the Starter Accessory Pack, which bundles bac water with syringes and swabs — and is free with every £50 spent.
Which size do I need: 3ml or 10ml?
- 3ml vial (£3.99) — enough to reconstitute one or two peptide vials at the usual 1–2ml per vial. The right choice if you are starting one compound and want a fresh vial each time.
- 10ml vial (£7.99) — the better value if you run several peptides or reconstitute regularly. One 10ml vial covers roughly five to ten peptide vials and, because of the benzyl alcohol preservative, stays usable for 28 days after the first puncture.
How much bacteriostatic water per peptide vial?
Most 5–10mg peptide vials are reconstituted with 1ml or 2ml. Larger vials such as 30mg Retatrutide or 100mg GHK-Cu are often reconstituted with 2–3ml so the concentration stays easy to measure on an insulin syringe. The amount of water does not change how much peptide is in the vial, only the concentration per unit on the syringe. Use the Peptide Reconstitution Calculator to work out the exact figure for your vial, or read our full guide to bacteriostatic water for peptides.
What is Bacteriostatic Water?
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. The benzyl alcohol inhibits microbial growth after the vial is punctured, which is what allows a single vial to be used across multiple reconstitutions over several weeks under refrigeration. It is the standard solvent for reconstituting most research peptides supplied in lyophilised form.
Use in Peptide Reconstitution
Bacteriostatic water is compatible with the majority of peptides sold on this site — including BPC-157, TB-500, GHK-Cu, Ipamorelin, Tesamorelin, Semax, Selank, MOTS-C, Kisspeptin-10, and MT2. It is not suitable for compounds that require an acidic solvent for solubility — see our Acetic Water product for those applications, and refer to Bacteriostatic Water vs Acetic Acid Water: Which to Use for a full comparison.
Specifications
- Composition: Sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative
- Volume: Available in multiple vial sizes — see options above
- Form: Multi-dose vial with sterile rubber septum
- Storage: Room temperature or refrigerated. Once punctured, use within 28 days for research purposes.
How to Use
- Wipe the septum of both the bacteriostatic water vial and the peptide vial with an alcohol swab.
- Draw the required volume of bacteriostatic water into a sterile syringe.
- Slowly inject the water down the side wall of the peptide vial (not directly onto the lyophilised powder).
- Gently swirl to dissolve. Do not shake.
- Store the reconstituted peptide at 2–8°C.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is bacteriostatic water the same as sterile water?
No. Sterile water for injection contains no preservative, so once a vial is opened it should be used immediately and discarded. Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which stops bacteria multiplying inside the vial and makes it suitable for multiple draws over 28 days. For reconstituting peptides that will be drawn from over days or weeks, bacteriostatic water is the correct choice.
How long does bacteriostatic water last once opened?
The accepted guideline is 28 days from the first puncture of the septum when stored at room temperature or in the fridge, away from direct light. Unopened vials keep until the printed expiry date.
Does a reconstituted peptide need to be refrigerated?
Yes. Once a peptide has been mixed with bacteriostatic water it should be kept at 2–8°C and used within about four weeks. The lyophilised powder itself can also be stored in the fridge or freezer before reconstitution.
Can I use bacteriostatic water for every peptide?
Almost all of them. The exceptions are a small number of compounds that only dissolve properly in a mildly acidic solution — for those, use Acetic Water. Our guide Bacteriostatic Water vs Acetic Acid Water lists which is which.
Is bacteriostatic water legal to buy in the UK?
Yes. Bacteriostatic water is a laboratory consumable and is freely sold in the UK. Revial Labs supplies it to researchers alongside our research peptides; it is not supplied for human or veterinary use.
Where is it shipped from?
